Last night it snowed a good amount... normally we'd head straight for hte resorts, but this storm was a wet one leaving behind 1 foot of sloppy wet stuff. Bad for pow slashes but great for building. Dan hit me up in the morning to see if i'd help him hit this wallride at his house, so my roomate Perri and I headed over to help out. This thing looked scary and right off the bat i was kind of skeptical, it was a 10-15 ft banister rail to wall ride but if you came off early you pretty much fell 10 feet to a close out stair set that led the the 1st story. Not to mention we'd have to use a sketchy bungee, all we needed was to throw in a J-turn to pop and we'd have a perfectly sketchy set-up. Instead we put in some extra work on the run-in and were able to find the speed naturally without having to use the bungee. Solid day no one got hurt and we got some sweet shots heres some photos from my celly, holla!

Ups and Downs in the Gnome Zone

The other week we were traversing through the Gnome labs and found a rad tree jib. Turns out our buddy Stevie Bell(white) had been back there having a safety meeting with some of the other guys. Slightly intoxicated, Stevie began pushing the already dead tree over and with the help of the other homies they got it to fall. Overnight it dumped and the next day we came up on it, dusted her off and boyaaka.

hey whats up another epic night for the Couchboys crew. Last night we celebrated Mick Jackson's birthday at Newport pier bar and grill. There was a huge turn out. the place was poppin' at the end of the pier, with a live performance from cb's own Psyborg, the diagnosed diversity. Madd OG cb's showed up, including: Wes Luke, Ulysses, Chase Adams, Booyaa Adam and Chip Robinson, Psyborg, C.Hill and Mick Jackson. It was a crackin' small reunion. after midnight hit we started to celebrate Wes Lukes B-Day. Once we were champanged and dance'd out we headed home to puff our second hand char'ed bowl courtesy of the dairy ashtray (thanks Los!). It was a night for the books. one I will hardly remember with friends i'll never forget. Mad hommies got laid. Babies got made. Cb easy livin' and jibbin' all day.

This past summer Mt Hood served up some sunny skies, good times, and a pretty innovative park to boot. Windells famous BagJump also graced us with its presence. The crew got to test some new tricks on the blob, then stomped them on the snow. Peep the mini collection of take offs and landings.

First couple storms brought 4ft+, so we headed out front and built a hip jump over the driveway. Curtis was towing us in at 40mph but having no snow on the ground made it really hard on the snow mobiles engine only giving us a few tries each at it. Curtis took one for the team not even geting one tow in to save the precious belt on his snowmobile, gotta save some for the bigger picture...but that didnt stop him from getting jibby on the banister sesh...vid coming soon.

This last weekend, Kevin Coffee "Kdogg", Justin Skaug "smeegs", and I "Curtis", set out to Ventura to the Oneway Boardshop Butter Battle Rail Jam! We got in a little early so we went to the beach to scope the waves and shmee. We ate at Macdonalds and drove back to check the box set-up. It was gonna go off no doubt. Shmeegs awoke from a comatoast during the first heat and poached the contest. He ended up getting caught and they gave him a wild card for killing it!! Powder & sun's Mikey Rad was gettin jibby aswell. Eli wiener ended up with the win but Mike Brokoff took home the best trick with a nasty back 270!In the mix, my good friend Andy with his dog Lela, showed up and invited us to go surf a swell that was approaching! Ohh word! So after the comp ended, we headed to Seaward and Peirpont for a local session before the session. we loaded up the boards and headed north to Mondos Reef. Once there we couldn't wait to get in the water. This was Kdogg's first time surfing! He was soo pumped! Not too crowded, everyone was having a blast. Andy was killing it, doing circles around us! After shredding the water for a few hours and watching the sun set, we geared down and left back for Ventura. We smizzled with Andy once more and hit the road. This time we were on our way to Kind Meds hashish bar. Once there Kdogg had to sit outside while Shmeegs and I went inside to take skilletine ripps! After losing my ID, getting rippered, and Watching a very important Dodgers inning, we had to bounce outta there quick to make it to the Santa Clarita Skate Park. After another harsh Macdonalds sesh and a lil' road rage, we made it there with a half hour to spare. We skated til' the park lights shut off and ended up with a few shots to show. At the end of the long day, we were all beat and tired from the adventure. Light at the end of the tunnel...After a day of being on pins and needles thinging about whether or not id still have a room to sleep in at the mtn lab...or what and the hell Tony was gonna do with his Alpacas. It seems there is no cause for concern, as mother nature has once again had our backs. Cold temps southerly winds brought on by this recent low pressure system not only slowed the fire enough for containment it has also allowed for snowmaking to resume at mthigh let it snow...kinda.

Its cold(30) and the Lab is still here...not to bad last night there were 20 cop units in town keeping us safe from looting an wut not. they were patrolling all night bout every 2 hours or so and it was comforting to see. fire is still burning and town is on lockdown...i went to the Mini Mart this morning and was finally able to buy something again(coffee creamer and a 12 pack of Budweiser)for town has been shut down for a day and a half...Ramen Saved MY Life-Couchboys

For a couple of night last week we thought our campsite was being invaded by forest gnomes in search of the ever illusive schnap schnap. From late night run ins to brushing up against our tent these little guys were relentless. But just the other day we came to find that our nosey little friends, ended up being bambi and company. We caught them on camera the other night trying to snake some tasty dinner from the fire, peep the video.

yo what's crip a late'n. heres a little view of summit meadows totem pole CB stompping grounds. we hiked in to better view the snow depth at the site one day and took some pics. were still talking 10 feet in some spots altho the hippies spot was totally uncovered in some wierd freaky way. but around the totem pole is about 4-5 ft. shmeegs found some leftover poker chips from previous stays. haaha!! were about to build a suuper secret sickie MuHuaaaaHahahhaa!!!!!

HCSC blood drive

Hey whats up! On June 12 High Cascade held a blood drive. After a long day of looking for a cell phone and no shreddin, we went to Government Camp to get some food and do laundry. Shmee was in deep thought about the needle while we ate at Charlie's Mountain view across the street. When it was time he gave it the chicken out so I had to fly solo. Fortunately the doctors and staff were really really nice and had some pretty funny jokes. After alot of paperwork and aids questions it was time to donate!!!

The hard part was is over, it was snack time!!!! Good thing I was the last of only 30 donors that day, the nurse over heard that we were camping so she said that it was her and red crosses pleasure to hook us up with all kinds of goodies! she filled a trash bag full of Caprice suns and trail mix and oreo's and other snacks!!! super sponsored by the red cross. thank you again if you ever read this!!

Riding Windells was the best. We showed up early and registered under pro cause the am jam was for campers. On the way down from Palmer we hit the skii Moguls like always but this time after I hit it, I looked back up and Scotty Arnold was riding right there with us! Followed up by a siiick backie by Justin. Practice was probably the most fun. Using the rope tow was amazing!! Best feeling ever. So during the heat we got split up trying our best to advance to the game of HAM finals. Neither of us made it. Matty mo killed it, Sawyer Dean killed it as well, that kidd has a wicked back lip. Anyways during the final I couldn't stop, had to keep taking windells laps cause it doesn't happen everyday. I was working on frontside heel fives. schmee watched on with fellow rider "Jeff" as the final came to an end. we rode a few more then peaced. Later that day we went down to Windells camp to watch the skate comp. once again I found myself charging the outside cement bowl after a complete amp up from California hommies. Scotty Arnold came and we had a two man bowl skate sesh. It was pretty epic. But the actuall comp went down sick. so many good tricks. Matty was DJ 'n and we was chillin. all in all it was a good day.

LAUREL HILL

The village of Government Camp formerly a camp on the old Barlow road. The village was named in 1849 when U.S. Calvary troops were forced to abandon wagons and supplies.

Part of the historic Oregon Trail was Laurel Hill. The pioneer road detoured the Columbia River rapids and Mount Hood to the Willamette Valley. The road at first followed an old indian trail. the later name was the Barlow road. Travel was difficult. Early travelers named the hill from the resemblance of native leaves to laurel. Imagine carrying everything you own in a wagon over the boulders in this dangerous chute. Using ropes snubbed to trees or sometimes dragging trees behind as brakes. Emigrants managed to get wagons down these hazardous openings. This chute was just one of a series of treacherous descents facing Barlow road travelers as they clambered off laurel hill and out of the cascades.

So Justin and I stopped off the road for a little grapeblt break at Laurel Hill. We had no idea what it was until we reached the chute summit. while walking up we got caught in a thunder and lightning storm. it was loud and wet. It must of been really crazy for the settlers. We decided to take the quick way down the chute and took some pics along the way. steeper then it looks for sure!!

hey whats up from the HOOD. things are still poppin up here with the last two days being bluebird. mcschmee and me have been handlin. today was better for jumps with no wind but too sticky by noon, altho today i did get to hit a larger jump. stoked!!!! today i seen schmeegs do a solid rail slide first run illy mc willie steez O. miss my boys and lady. hopefully see you soon. heres some pictures.

yo whats up. cboy here chillin in sandy outside of hood at the library. had to get broken blue to the shop. it never ends. we went to the thrift store but didnt get the box. hood looks amazing and majestic as always, so all has been good, got 8 days on the snow and schmeegs has got two. were workin on mad jump and pipe game as well as staying on opur jib game. pipes cut twice a week and the features get redug too. no ones slackin here!!! the weather has shut down the lift due to high winds the last two days. *bummer we heard more is expected. the beer is good, mostly hamms. charlies is poppin two for one pinners and the rat did karaoke last night. other then that we have been camping out near gvcp. the snow is melting quickly so were gonna move soon. there is two kids, gracin and steve chillin near us. they are from the SFV. our boy bryce hasnt touched the snow yet so we havent made that contact. maybe on the way home we will stop at windells. jacob says what up and so does justin. mad love to the hommies. till next update....

Behind the Scenes: Whittier College Snow Jam 2009

Whittier College Snow Jam went off this year. With only 8 days to plan the event KG got on the horn and began to rally the boys for what ended up being the best snow jam to date. It all began friday afternoon, with the first trip to Mt High to grab a load of snow and a couple rails. Later that day we met up with Curty at the campus to unload the stuff and figure out the plan for the next day, we tried to crash early that night but between editing our movie and the band being in town that wasnt really an option. After a slow start we finally got on the road around 7am, KG driving the SAV Mobile and Curtis and I in the Penske that Signal provided, so far so good. About a half hour later Mikey had the Penske packed to the max with nothing but snow this time...we were riding dirty. Before we even made it passed the Bullwheel an alarm in the truck went off and the only thing came to mind was the load weighed too much, but after a few minutes it went off so we sent it. We made it down the 2 without a hitch but the moment we began going downhill on the 138 Curtis looks over at me and says the brakes are smoking and he couldnt stop no matter what he did....runaway truck. Luckily we hit an uphill grade and just coasted to a stop, but it was scary as hell, the thought of what would happen if i had to jump out at 45 miles an hour definately crossed my mind. It took a while but we made it. After unloading the snow curtis headed back up to the high for another, while some groms and the crew began moving the snow.

Snow shreds and college students from all walks of life came out for the event. The quad was packed and you could feel the anticipation everyone had for the last truck of snow to arrive. Finally Curtis came through and it was on, it was a mad dash to unload the truck, but everyone helped and soon it was underway. A little bit of a late start but we all made it happen. The contest had it all, big crashes, a few bangers, some war paint, photogs, filmers, gypsies, but most of all it was a great time. The rest is history, theee ya next year.

The other day I was reading a Transworld and came across an interview with Torstein Horgmo. One of the questions he was aksed was what inspires him and it was rad to see his response was "any part from Afterbang", a Robot Food video. If any snowboard movie stands out in my mind it would be that one, True Life was the always the go to, but Afterbang showed a more creative and fun side to snowboarding that made you just want to get out there and shred.Torstein wasn't the only one to metnion this movie as inspiration either, it seems to pop up in the pages every now and again and still sticks out in my mind. After a long year of training in the dale and a less than 10 pin defeat at last years annual Volcom Bowling, the crew had their sites set on this years contest in Torrence. The day of the match was upon them and crew piled into the RV for the pre-game antics and by the time they reached the arena they were all schmeegled only to find the rest of the competition just as hammered, Couchboys and Pharmacy Team Rider Ed Girulani put it. With refreshments sponsered by Pabst Blue Ribbon, the battle was on. It was a scene straight out of Kingpin, but there was no Munson here. The Pharmacy Phetus Puckers left the battlefield victorious with a monster 200 pin lead(1343) over the next closest HSS Cobra Kai(1166). And our very own Ed taking top honors as MVP of the night for Most Consecutive Strikes in a game(6). Congratulations and Pharmacy represent. For the rest of the results and pictures visit:

Big Bear Trans Am 2009

Last saturday Justin Curtis Whetstone and I trekked it to Big Bear for the 2009 trans am and to say the least the set up was ultra buttery. Some fools need to take notes cuz the possibilities were endless, it wasn't your typical mt high playground rebuild named after a contest. It was one of the most progressive set-ups ive ever seen even putting the rest of the transam stops to shame.

The first heat was a hour long "traffic jam", which was a straight up free for all ...drop and send it, so many almost full speed collisions shit was nuts. I didnt make finals but still got this shot in the transam gallery(stoked).It was hard to get noticed, but whetstone and curtis kept it consistant earning their spots in the finals. And even though they got no love on the podium our boys still killed it look for whetstone(purple pants)in this video from twsnow.com and for curtis those shots are archived, never to be seen again, on the SONY MindCAM HD 1080p. all shots taken from www.twsnow.com

Simple Failures was the winner of this years video wars filmed and edited by Craig Glover. More of a skate style edit focusing on the riding with a solid song to back. Ed, Dome, Mikey and I were featured in this little edit along with some of the mt high loc's putting it down in the second half, look out for Lance and Curtis to throw down. Thank you for the fine weather update dave. Next Saturday is the 3rd annual Money in the Bank organized by Snowdogg and friends this one started out super grassroots and has become one of the funnest times of the season cb will be rolling deep.

Manny is back! 45 million buduckas and a 2 year contract later and hes back on the dodgers. homie didnt want to leave LA anyways nosebleed seats will be poppin off this year bring a flask.
